On YouTube you can upload videos for others to watch, watch videos which others have uploaded, rate videos by liking or disliking them, and share videos by emailing them to friends, posting them to your favourite social networking sites, or embedding them on your web site or blog. With YouTube, you can get your message across to a very wide audience in a reasonable amount of time.. The only downside? Where you don’t have internet, you don’t have YouTube videos.

You might come across a YouTube video you’d like to keep. This way, if you find yourself without internet access, you can still watch it on your computer. Since the video is stored on your computer, you can also sync the video onto your iPod or MP3 player.

In this tutorial, we will look over some ways to download YouTube videos easily, using a site called Zamzar. Zamzar is easy because it allows you to choose which format you want to download the YouTube video in, so, say, you could view it on your iPod or mobile phone.

To start, find the YouTube video you would like to download, by visiting YouTube.com and searching for a video. Once you’ve found the video, select the entire address in the address bar of your web browser and copy it by Right-Clicking (Control-Clicking on Mac) in the address bar and then clicking copy.

Now visit Zamzar.com and click the Download Videos tab, to the right of Convert Files. Delete everything in the Step 1 field by selecting it and pressing the delete key. Now similar to copying the address of the YouTube video, this time, paste in the address.

Looking now at Step 2, choose a format for the video. Here’s a quick format reference guide:

• 3gp – For basic mobile phones

• iPhone – For Apple iPhone or iPod Touch

• iPod – For any other iPod, such as Classic or Nano

• Mp4 – For viewing on Mac, Apple TV, or iPad

• Wmv – For viewing on a Windows PC

You shouldn’t need any other formats. Now, simply enter your email address in the field at Step 3, then click the Convert button. Click OK to the message that appears.

You will soon receive the video at your email address, and you will have 24 hours to download the video from the provided link. Enjoy your YouTube video wherever you might be!

Ever watched a badass Youtube video and thought to yourself “Man… I wish I could listen to this on my iPod”? I know I have, and I was like many of the other people who wished they could, but didn’t want to spend a dime doing so. Until recently, I just kind of brushed it off, and didn’t think anything more of it. That is, until my friend Haleigh, sent me a website where you put in the Youtube URL, and hit enter. The MP3 File will then transfer to your itunes library (or whichever music library you use). I thought this was really cool, and decided to toy around with it a bit. It will turn anything on Youtube into a sound file, so if you find an audio book on Youtube, it’s fair game. ANYTHING ON YOUTUBE. Literally. Here’s the website, http://www.video2mp3.net/.

How To: Convert Youtube Videos to Mp3 Format.

For months and months I was trying to figure out a way to download music from Youtube. I was sure it could be done, as comments from Youtube users often hinted that they’d now downloaded the track I was listening to.

My problem with the normal download sites (I.e: Isohunt, btjunkie etc…) was that they didn’t often have the song that I wanted. I was often looking for instrumental versions of songs too, which are even harder to find. But, when you log on to Youtube, you can find these instrumentals in their hundreds, it doesn’t matter what song you choose.  So how did I download them?  It took me a lot of comment-trawling before I finally found the answer. I can’t even remember the person’s username now, but I thank them all the same.

video2mp3.net is a converter service, allowing you to convert videos not only Youtube, but from Clipfish, Sevenload, Dailymotion and Myspace.

1. Find the song you want to download. It often helps NOT to find the song with it’s ‘Official Video’, as these may have other sounds on them at the beginning or end of the track. (I.e, talking, sounds of people walking etc..) For instance, I downloaded Alors On Danse by Stromae a few weeks ago, intending to use it as my ringtone, only to find out that the first seventeen seconds of the track was filled with bleeping and door-closing, as the guy in the video sat in his office. Not much good as a ringtone, as I never knew when my phone was ringing…

2. Copy the URL. It should be something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJCQDd4vYjg

3. Now, go to video2mp3.net. (Yes, it does have to be .net, as .com is a completely different site that isn’t any help at all.) and paste your Youtube URL into the conversion box. If you wish, you can choose Standard or High Quality. Then, click CONVERT.

4. It shouldn’t take very long to do this. After the video is converted, it will take you to a page which displays the information on the track you’ve converted. (I.e; name, source, file size…)  Underneath this, you will find ‘Download Mp3.’ Click on it.

5. A box will appear asking if you wish to Open or Save the file. I have found that choosing Open tends to lead to errors in the file, so I now always click Save. Save the track to your chosen file, and wait….

6. Go find your file, upload it to your Ipod, Mp3 player, Mobile phone, or even burn it onto a CD. The Track is YOURS!
